First Blog/organics

January 4, 2008

Hello, and welcome to my first blog entry. as well as my first step into the blogisphere. I am sure its the place to be, maybe.

AuralErotic Chicago is something I cooked upped half-assed, that later, upon looking back, after I signed myself up; I realized that this could be the opportunity I need to fulfill an idea I had, while babbling half drunkenly to a friend of mine. The idea was to try and create a discussion about recording, mixing and making records, not a collection of songs that you consecutively put on some play back medium, but a record, an album. I know that their are a lot of blogs about recording/mixing tips and tricks, where people go on diatribes rattling off specs on equipment and ways to get the perfect drum sound. I want to talk about how you got that shitty boomy drum sound that sounds awesome because you ran it threw a stereo tape deck and distorted the shit out of it, which worked perfectly with feeling of that song or album you’re working on. Lets talk about how John Lennon would hang up side down and be swung around while playing guitar to get a “weird sound”, as a dude once said. But let me be realistic here, in order to break the rules, you first have to know what the rules are. That being said, I am sure there will be a fair share of technical talk, which is fine, I just don’t want it to be the focus.

So I will be posting pictures and links to songs that I have worked on in my studio and other peoples studios. After reviewing the material, feel free to comment by leaving any constructive criticisms you might have. I would like this blog to help me and others perfect the art that is making records.
